| Summary: Dietz remains one of the higher-variance arms in the class due to health history, but the raw ingredients are undeniable. Early looks had him working 91–93 with a cutter and changeup, but the fall breakout reintroduced the premium version—94–97, touching 99, with late life from a tall, high three-quarters slot. The curveball flashes plus traits with depth, and the cutter gives him a distinct second hard look. When everything is synced, the fastball jumps out of his hand with carry or natural cut, and he’s shown feel for landing both the curve and cutter. The delivery is unusual for a 6’6” frame—upright, long-levered, but under control—and he’s demonstrated strike-throwing ability when healthy. The track record remains thin after TJ recovery and uneven velocity during the summer, but the ceiling rivals any college left-hander in the class. If the fall version holds through the spring, Dietz could climb into early-round territory with frontline flashes. | |||||||||||
