Summary:
Swain shows a live, power-oriented arm with ingredients that immediately stand out, even if the overall profile is still coming together. The fastball has climbed into the low-to-mid 90s with good extension from a three-quarters slot, and when everything is synced, the ball jumps on hitters. There’s some effort in the delivery, particularly from the stretch, where a slide step can cost him velocity and cause the arm to lag, leading to arm-side misses. Command is primary concern right now, as he can overthrow and lose the zone when his timing drifts, but the raw arm strength gives him margin for error that many peers don’t have.

The secondary mix shows real promise. The slider is the best weapon at present, flashing sharp, two-plane action with strong spin and bat-miss potential, while the changeup shows late dip and tail that gives him a viable option against left-handed hitters. A curveball is in the mix but remains more of a show-me pitch. The foundation points toward a power reliever floor, with starter consideration hinging on improved strike consistency, cleaner tempo from the stretch, and more trust in his secondary pitches early in counts. If the delivery tightens and the strike throwing takes a step forward, the stuff is good enough to move quickly.
