| Summary: Echavarria took a tangible step forward in the second half of 2025, tightening his strike throwing and sharpening a fastball/slider foundation that now gives him both a higher floor and a clearer developmental direction. Working from an over-the-top slot with long levers and athletic looseness, the fastball operates comfortably in the mid-90s and has reached 99, playing best at the top of the zone where the angle and carry allow it to miss bats. The mid-80s slider is the defining weapon—short, firm, and increasingly reliable for strikes early and chase late—giving him a legitimate put-away pitch against hitters on both sides. The rest of the arsenal is still forming. The curveball shows occasional depth but remains inconsistent in shape, while the changeup is very much a work in progress, though late-season grip experimentation produced flashes of average movement. Control has trended in the right direction, and while overall command is still settling, the improved strike efficiency has allowed the raw stuff to play more consistently. At just 20 for much of the 2026 season, Echavarria has time on his side; if a third pitch firms up, there’s a viable starter path, and if not, the fastball/slider combo profiles cleanly in a high-leverage relief role. Double-A will be the inflection point that clarifies which direction the profile ultimately takes. | |||||||||||
