Summary:
Gibson’s ascent from 2023 undrafted signee to legitimate rotation candidate has been fueled by a deep, well-sequenced arsenal and meaningful command gains. The fastball now operates comfortably in the mid-90s and has touched the upper 90s, playing up thanks to extension, ride and late run. He leans heavily on a diverse breaking-ball mix—sweeper, tighter slider shapes and curveball with plenty of depth—along with an upper-80s cutter that gives hitters a different velocity band and movement look. The ability to manipulate shape and velocity keeps bats from sitting on any one pitch, and the overall strike-throwing trend has moved in the right direction.

Across multiple levels he’s paired that pitch diversity with strong strikeout rates and manageable walk totals, flashing the durability to turn lineups over while still missing bats at a high clip. A recently incorporated sinker and harder “death ball” slider have further expanded the mix, allowing him to change eye levels and generate ground balls when needed. There’s still refinement ahead—particularly in tightening command inning to inning—but the combination of extension, sequencing aptitude and five-plus usable pitches points toward a realistic mid-rotation outcome with a fallback as a multi-inning power arm who can work in leverage.
