Summary:
Few arms in the system can match the raw electricity Hopkins brings to the mound. The former two-way athlete turned full-time pitcher has grown into a power-oriented righty whose fastball routinely sits mid-to-upper 90s and can scrape triple digits, playing especially well from a lower slot that creates a flat, difficult plane. The heater shows both ride and sink traits depending on usage, and the athleticism in his delivery allows it to jump on hitters even when location isn’t pinpoint.

The breaking ball mix is just as loud. A hard, upper-80s slider and a true power curve in the high 80s both miss bats at strong clips, with the curve in particular generating chase and whiffs when he finishes it below the zone. He’s added a cutter to steal strikes and a firm changeup to round out a deep arsenal, giving him multiple looks to navigate a lineup. Strikeout rates have backed up the stuff, but so have elevated walk totals and the occasional hit-by-pitch, with long arm action and timing lapses leading to below-average command at present.

When the strike-throwing tightens, the upside looks like a mid-rotation starter who can overwhelm hitters with velocity and shape. If the control never quite stabilizes, the same fastball/breaking-ball combination could play in a high-leverage bullpen role. The ceiling is loud; the developmental hinge remains consistency within the zone.
