| Summary: Stanifer forced his way onto the radar in 2025, riding a significant velocity spike and strikeout surge across three levels. The fastball now works 93–96 with ride and some armside life, showing enough jump to miss bats even without ideal extension. He mixes in a power sinker variant at times, but the four-seam shape and how it tunnels with his breaking ball are what drive the profile. A short arm action and stretch-only operation add deception, though they can also create timing inconsistencies. The slider is the calling card. Thrown in the low-to-mid 80s with gyro tilt and sharp vertical bite, it generates elite whiff rates and serves as his primary weapon in and out of the zone. The changeup shows usable feel and occasional groundball traits, but it’s more of a complementary pitch than a consistent finisher right now. Developing a more reliable third offering—whether that’s sharpening the changeup or adding a distinct north-south look—will be key to turning over lineups multiple times. Strike-throwing remains the hinge point. Elevated walk totals and bouts of scattered command cap the present ceiling, especially as he faces more advanced hitters. If the control tightens and the third pitch takes a step, there’s a No. 4 starter path built on bat-missing ability and athleticism. If not, the fastball/slider combo fits comfortably in a high-leverage bullpen role where the stuff can play up in shorter bursts. | |||||||||||
