Summary:
A deep, varied arsenal makes De León a difficult pitcher to game plan against. The fastball operates in the mid-to-upper 90s and pairs with a sinker that generates heavy arm-side run and weak contact, giving him two distinct looks off the same arm speed. When the delivery is synced the strike-throwing holds, and fall looks showed an efficient, poised opener with the full mix working in sequence.

The secondaries give him multiple ways to miss bats. The slider flashes plus with depth and sweep and is a weapon against hitters from either side, while a fading changeup and developing splitter round out a mix that can generate swing-and-miss from multiple angles. That pitch diversity is what separates him from a two-pitch profile and keeps the starter projection alive — lineups can’t sit on one shape.

Command consistency is what separates the outcomes. Delivery timing and release point fluctuations have led to elevated walk rates at times, and that variable will define the trajectory. If the mechanical refinements hold and the strike-throwing continues trending in the right direction, the profile fits a mid-rotation starter with impact potential. If the command remains inconsistent, the stuff is too good to waste — a high-leverage bullpen role is a more than viable fallback.
