| Summary: Before a labrum injury altered the trajectory, Arroyo was one of the more exciting young bats in the system — an 18-year-old generating nearly 50 extra-base hits at High-A with an uppercut swing geared toward power production. The 2025 return showed a player still finding his footing, with a groundball rate that spiked well above pre-injury levels, diminished stolen base numbers and a left-handed swing that struggled to lift the ball or generate the pull-side damage that defined the earlier profile. The hit tool remained intact throughout — the contact ability and plate coverage held up — but the power and speed that made the ceiling conversation compelling were largely absent. The second half of 2025 and subsequent winter ball reps in Puerto Rico were encouraging steps in the right direction, and a full recovery of the pre-injury power and speed is a realistic expectation rather than a reach. The switch-hitting profile with excellent plate coverage and an aggressive, opposite-field approach gives the offensive floor something to stand on while the impact tools return. The extremely open stance and wide setup gear everything toward contact, and the chase against softer stuff is an area the approach will need to address as he faces more advanced pitching. Defensively, the athleticism, quick hands and internal clock give him the tools to handle shortstop, though the 2B reps open up a superutility path that adds roster value on the 40-man. Arm accuracy was inconsistent coming off the injury, and the low slot creates some risk on throws from deep in the hole that will need to monitor as the arm strength continues to rebuild. The ceiling remains tied to how fully the pre-injury tools return — if they do, the profile is that of an impactful switch-hitting infielder with multi-positional value. | |||||||||||
