Player: Travis Sykora
School: Round Rock HS (TX) Position(s): RHP
Height: 6’6″ Weight: 220 lbs. Bats: Right Throws: Right
| Pitches: Fastball: 96-100 with run. An absolute plus pitch. When delivery isn’t on the pitch does flatten out but, when at its best, it has plenty of downhill plan and runs arm side. Like it best at the 96-97, when looking to get to triple digits is when it loses life. Change: 86-87, dips and runs, good arm action. Slider: 85-86 sharp late two plane break. Power pitch

Delivery/Mechanics: Lower 3/4 slot, good extension but some elbow bend. Big leg kick, hitchy delivery, inconsistent leg drive. Some late effort. Command needs work but consistency in lower half should help. Delivery very prototypical Texan, almost Nolan Ryan-esque (not a stuff comp, purely a delivery comp).
Summary: Will be 19 come draft day, so definitely on the older side of the prep class but that doesn’t limit his upside. Syroka has all the makings of a frontline starter but comes with plenty of risk too. The long body is mature in terms of size, but lacks consistency and fluidity in the delivery, leading to plenty of command concerns currently. He works quick and is clearly a competitor on the mound showing the mentality that would fit as a high leverage reliever if needed, but highest likelihood is that of a starter.
