| Summary: Brings a wide, balanced setup with explosive hands and plus bat speed that allow him to drive line drives to all fields with growing power. Swing is compact and direct with a slight barrel tip, producing impact especially to the pull side, though he can get out front against spin. Has really improved his strength since getting to UCLA, posting big exit velos, and the bat speed and physicality give him clear middle-of-the-order potential if the approach continues to improve. Defensively, profiles comfortably on the left side of the infield. Has the range and arm strength to stick at shortstop, although he fits best long term at third base where his quick feet, strong arm, and steady hands fit naturally and the power plays to the profile. Makes the routine plays consistently and stays under control. He will get overshadowed some by Roch Cholowsky in the same lineup, but Martin has Day One upside. | |||||||||||
