Summary:
Lin has quickly evolved from international curiosity to legitimate starting prospect, converting electric raw stuff into a polished, workable arsenal. The fastball is the anchor—sitting 95–98 mph, touching 101, and featuring heavy arm-side run that eats up right-handers and limits hard contact. His changeup is already a true weapon, living in the mid-to-upper 80s with huge separation and late fade that produces over 50% whiffs and neutralizes lefties. A short slider and developing splitter round out the mix; both flash average but lack consistency, giving him multiple looks even when the feel isn’t all there.

The delivery has cleaned up and the command gains are real—he’s trimmed his walk rate under 8% while maintaining top-end velocity. If the secondary pitches continue to firm up, Lin projects comfortably as a mid-rotation starter capable of missing bats and generating weak contact. Should the breaking ball never quite click, his fastball/changeup combo still gives him a high-octane relief fallback with late-inning potential.
