| Summary: When healthy, Espino’s stuff ranks among the best in the sport. The power right-hander once sat 96–100 mph and touched 103 with a fastball that explodes through the zone, pairing it with a vicious upper-80s slider that can sweep or dive depending on shape. He’ll mix in a deep 12–6 curveball as a chase pitch and a developing changeup that lags behind the rest, but the two primary offerings alone can dominate when he’s on time and in rhythm. The combination of athleticism, strength, and ease of velocity once gave him true front-line starter potential. Multiple shoulder surgeries between 2023 and 2024 have put that projection in doubt, leaving the focus on simply regaining health and innings. Even so, Espino’s delivery still looks fluid, and the fastball/slider pairing remains elite when the arm cooperates. If he returns to anything close to peak form, he has the pure stuff to reemerge as one of baseball’s most electric arms; if not, the fallback is a power reliever with strikeout-heavy impact in shorter bursts. | |||||||||||
