| Summary: I firmly believed Bradfield would be a changing of the guard in the type of prospect teams looked for as his game benefitted from the larger bases and limited pick moves. He hasn’t been quite to the level I had hoped, his game is still built around elite speed and top-tier defense in center field, giving him one of the highest athletic floors in the minors. His 80-grade quickness translates to every phase, and his first-step burst and instincts allow him to cover huge swaths of ground defensively. Reads, routes, and body control are all advanced, and though his arm grades below average, his range and anticipation make him a Gold Glove-caliber center fielder. Offensively, Bradfield is a contact-oriented left-handed hitter with excellent strike-zone control and pitch recognition. He rarely swings and misses and walks more than he strikes out. While power will never be a strength, he’s made tangible progress lifting the ball, cutting his groundball rate nearly in half while maintaining high contact quality. His line-drive approach and on-base instincts allow his speed to play at the top of the order, and even with modest impact, the contact, defense, and baserunning combination give him a high-probability everyday profile as a dynamic leadoff center fielder. | |||||||||||
