| Summary: Dugger, a Colorado product, has witnessed first hand what it takes to make it in professional baseball. The son of the Colorado Rockies Head Athletic Trainer Keith, Dugger grew up in a clubhouse observing the likes of Hall of Famer Todd Helton, and potential future Hall of Famer, Nolan Arenado. Dugger is arguably the best defensive backstop at the Division 1 level headed into the 2026 season. His ability to receive, block and handle a pitching staff were on full display as a sophomore in 2025 as he helped lead the Bruins to Omaha. A Cape Cod League All Star this past summer with the Orleans Firebirds, his manager, Kelly Nicholson had high praise for his defensive skillset, including the accuracy of his arm. Dugger slashed a very respectable .279/.421/.360 during the 2025 season with UCLA. He works deep into counts and finds ways to have productive at bats. Dugger has the ability to hit the ball out of the yard, though expect him to work gap to gap at the next level. MLB clubs will look for Dugger to take the next step offensively during his junior season. The intangibles play a part in Dugger’s game. His leadership as the field captain for the Bruins is evident and his ability to compete can’t be understated. Dugger shared catching duties with University of Texas superstar Carson Tinney as a senior in high school at Valor Christian. There is no doubt the internal competition propelled both on the trajectories they find themselves on now. Dugger has shown the ability to raise the level of play of those around him. His defense, leadership, and baseball IQ stand ready for pro-ball walking into the 2026. Should his bat take the next step, look for Dugger to be a high round pick. | |||||||||||
