2026 MLB Draft: Connor Fennell, RHP, Vanderbilt

Player: Connor Fennell
School: VanderbiltPosition(s): RHP
Height: 6’1″Weight: 180 lbs.Bats: Right Throws: Right
Summary:
Fennell is coming off an electric sophomore campaign with the Commodores where he logged 84k’s over 53.1 innings of work. His K rate in the SEC for the 2025 season was second only to Liam Doyle, a top 5 pick in this year’s draft. The righthander works from a funky, low arm slot (5-15 degrees) delivery with a three pitch mix. The fastball, sitting in the 88-89mph range, topping 90mph, shows elite ride through the zone, especially from the lower arm slot. A loopy, high spin slider has been an effective pitch to right handers. Fennell mixes in a change-up, primarily to lefties, that has been dominate playing extremely well off the fastball.

Fennell does not display the build of a typical SEC pitcher. Starting his college career at 6’1″, 168lbs., Fennell has added weight and strength heading into the fall of 2025. Fennell has proven that with elite command (11BB’s in 2025) and a deceptive delivery, success is possible with the smaller frame.

Fennell could find himself in weekend rotation for Tim Corbin’s club in 2026. He’s been effective as a starter and out of the bullpen. With continued physical maturity and refinement of an already above average arsenal, Fennell is poised for continued success at Vanderbilt and potential more in 2026.
