Summary:
Davalillo’s offensive foundation is the separator this early in his career. His right-handed swing is explosive and direct, built on quick hands, real bat speed, and a knack for finding the barrel. The contact rates already stand out — sub-10% whiff with consistent zone accuracy — and he layers that with a patient approach that doesn’t compromise aggression on hittable pitches. There’s above-average raw power for his age, particularly to the pull side when he catches the ball out front, and the exit-velocity trends point toward 20-plus homer upside as he fills out. Even without full physical maturity, the bat profiles ahead of the glove and gives him a strong developmental runway.

Whether Davalillo stays behind the plate will hinge on conditioning, mobility, and the consistency of his receiving. The hands and arm strength are there, but blocking and lower-half agility lag behind the bat, and his body will need to trend in the right direction to handle the physical demands of catching every day. Still, he shows early feel for working with pitchers and enough athletic baseline to project improvement as he gets professional reps.

If the defense comes even halfway, the offensive skill set gives him a chance to emerge as a true bat-first catcher — one whose on-base ability, emerging power, and mature swing decisions can carry the profile. If not, the bat should still keep him on a regular path, whether that’s as a part-time catcher or a move off the position
