Summary:
The fastball is the foundation of the profile, playing well above its radar reading thanks to a flat plane, late life, and the confidence to live at the letters. King creates tough looks from a low three-quarters slot with drop-and-drive mechanics that add angle and deception, allowing the heater to miss bats even when command wavers. The slider is already a legitimate weapon, showing bite and depth that’s especially effective against left-handed hitters, while a curveball flashes bat-miss shape when he stays on top of it. The changeup remains the least developed piece, but the arm speed and feel suggest it can become serviceable with reps.

What separates King from a pure relief profile is the athleticism and starter foundation. There’s effort in the delivery and strike throwing still needs refinement, but the ingredients for a miss-bat lefty starter are clearly present. As the command tightens and the third pitch comes along, the arsenal has room to deepen rather than collapse into a two-pitch look. The realistic range runs from a back-end starter floor to a mid-rotation outcome if the velocity holds and the control stabilizes, with enough strikeout upside to keep the ceiling meaningful even if the development comes in stages.
