| Summary: There’s a lot to like in the underlying shape and miss potential, with Kelly standing out as a metrics-friendly arm whose fastball plays above the radar reading. The heater works 92–95 and has touched higher, coming from a flatter plane with big extension that creates deception at the top of the zone. When he stays on line, it sets up a sweeping low-80s slider that flashes plus bat-miss traits and has produced strong whiff rates, while the changeup shows real arm-side dive and gives him a usable third look. The arsenal points to a starter profile, with the breaking ball doing most of the damage right now. Execution will ultimately determine how far it goes. The delivery features some side-arm traits and an open landing that can lead to command drift, and when the fastball leaks back over the plate it’s been susceptible to damage. That said, he’s shown durability, a willingness to attack the zone, and the ability to land both secondaries for strikes, giving him a realistic path as a rotation stabilizer. If fastball command tightens and the changeup continues to gain trust, the profile fits comfortably in a college rotation with upside beyond simple depth. | |||||||||||
