| Summary: Lichtenberger’s rise a freshman at Appalachian State has him lined up to take over as the everyday shortstop for Erik Bakich at Clemson in 2026. The Sun Belt Freshmen of the Year impacts the game on both sides of the ball and should be a staple in the Tiger’s lineup in 2026. At the plate, Lichtenberger shows an advanced hit tool from the left side. As a freshman he demonstrated elite bat to ball skill with a 93% contact rate against fastballs. He’s also shown the ability to handle spin and finds ways to get on base (.410 OBP). Though he only accumulated 3 HR’s last season, the potential for future power is there. Defensively, Lichtenberger looks the part up the middle. He covers ground with a strong and accurate arm and is fully capable of filling the highlight reel. Overall a poised and smooth defender. He does have room to mature physically, which may add to his potential for power. If he does so and maintains the high contact rate, he could be among the top collegiate SS’s in the 2027 draft. | |||||||||||
Eric Dillinger is currently the Head Baseball Coach at Erie High School, entering his 4th season as the Head Coach and 9th season overall. Dillinger was the pitching coach at Erie prior to becoming head coach. At the club level, he has coached nationally for multiple organizations including the Colorado Yard Dawgs, the Colorado Rockies Scout program, and USA Prime. Dillinger is also currently the General Manager for D-BAT NW Denver. In addition to his duties as GM, he is also a senior pitching instructor. He is certified in Rapsodo Pitching and is also Driveline Certified (Pitch Design). Beyond coaching on the field, Dillinger enjoys helping athletes in the recruiting process. He has helped over 40 athletes find homes at the next level.
