| Summary: Roby remains one of the more difficult arms to place in this system, not because of the arsenal, but because health has consistently interrupted momentum. When he’s right, the foundation still looks like a starter’s. The fastball has shown the ability to play above its raw velocity thanks to flat approach angle and extension, and it can reach the upper-90s in short looks, as seen during Spring Breakout. The curveball continues to be the calling card—tight, power-oriented, and capable of missing bats consistently against both sides—giving him a true putaway pitch to anchor the mix. The rest of the arsenal fills in cleanly around that foundation. He’ll show both slider and changeup as usable secondary looks, with the slider operating more as a strike-stealer and the changeup helping neutralize left-handed hitters when he maintains feel. There’s also a sinker variant that gives him a north–south look and helps the pitches tunnel, allowing him to work efficiently when the delivery is synced. Strike-throwing has generally been a strength, and the overall pitchability still reads as back-end to mid-rotation when the body allows him to take the ball consistently. Multiple arm injuries have limited innings and stalled development at key points, leaving little margin for physical regression in an already maxed-out frame. If he returns fully to pre-injury form, the combination of extension, a plus curveball, and a deep mix gives him a realistic path back to a rotation role. If durability falters again, the stuff still profiles to play in shorter stints, where the fastball and curveball could tick up and allow him to impact games in leverage. | |||||||||||
