| Summary: With one of the deepest high school outfield classes in recent memory, EJ Booth Jr. sits near the top as we approach the 2026 draft. This hasn’t always been the case and is a testament to the overall improvement to his game over the past two seasons. The raw tools Booth possess are off the charts, and that all starts with his speed. At Prep Baseball’s 2025 All-American Game in October, Booth logged an astounding 6.25 60 yd dash, breaking the previous record for the event. His raw speed and athleticism help him overcome a lack of refinement in the outfield and on the basepaths. A young ’26, the expectation is his routes and reads in the outfield along with his baserunning instincts will only improve. At the plate, Booth has an unconventional set up, with his hands starting a good distance from his body. As he loads, his hands drive back to a more conventional launch position as he strides forward. The swing can look a bit disconnected at times, though he has a good sense of the strike zone inducing consistent contact. His present strength accompanied by a lightning quick barrel could result in 20+ home runs at the next level. If there is a knock, it may be his arm in the outfield. However, with double plus speed, thunderous power potential, and an advanced hit tool present, Booth is a scout’s dream. A potential first round pick in July, with some polish and further development, Booth has the makings of a future star. | |||||||||||
