| Summary: After two good years at Kent State, Jake Bean will take his talents to Louisville for his draft year, transferring in to bolster an already solid Cardinals rotation. If he can match or exceed his results from his first two years in the always challenging ACC, look for his draft stock to rise as teams take note of how talented a pitcher he can be. In his repertoire, Bean features a polished mix of four pitches. His fastball sits in the low to mid 90’s, topping out around 94 with life. He mixes it with a curveball, changeup, and slider, with the curveball being his best secondary. It will sit in the mid 70’s, with good break late in its path to the plate. The changeup and slider both sit in the high 70’s to low 80’s, and are still developing, though both are already solid options. Delivery wise, Bean is slow and deliberate, and is comfortable out of both the windup and stretch. He repeats the delivery well across all four pitches, and is generally very athletic. He can get his arm stuck behind his torso a tiny bit due to a late arm flip, but overall is very mechanically solid. | |||||||||||
