Height: 6’8″Weight: 250 lbs.Bats: LeftThrows: Left
Summary:
Cope presents one of the more unusual two-way looks in the class, with a loose, deceptive left-handed delivery that creates uncomfortable angles and late life on the ball. He works from a lower three-quarters slot with a busy, high-hand set and long levers, hiding the ball well and creating natural deception. The fastball has shown sink and late tail, sitting in the low 90s and reaching higher at peak, but it plays better than the velocity suggests because of extension and release traits. The changeup is the most reliable secondary, flashing late dip and feel to both sides, while the slider has sharpened into a usable bat-misser when he stays on top of it. Overall strike consistency comes and goes, but the ingredients—angle, movement, and feel for a third pitch—point toward a viable long-term arm if he commits fully to the mound.

Offensively, the bat remains a legitimate part of the profile and, at times, has looked like the louder present tool. He shows quick hands, natural loft, and real strength-driven power, producing easy carry when he gets extended, though the swing comes with considerable swing-and-miss. Defensive value with the bat is limited to first base, and the run tool is well below average, putting pressure on the power to carry if he were to go that route. Given the arm traits, extension, and improving feel for secondaries, the long-term outlook still favors pitching, but the two-way background speaks to overall athleticism and competitive makeup. How quickly the profile settles into a single role will go a long way toward determining how much of the upside ultimately shows up.
