| Summary: Smejkal brings an aggressive, high-energy look to the mound with a three-quarters slot that can dip lower at times, creating uncomfortable angle and plenty of movement. The delivery features real leg drive but also plenty of head whack and some fall-off toward the first-base side, which impacts strike consistency. The fastball has worked 90–94 at its best, more often upper-80s to low-90s, showing heavy arm-side run and occasional sink. Nothing he throws is especially straight, and the natural movement helps the heater play better than the raw velocity might suggest when he’s synced up. The slider is the separator pitch, flashing sharp, downer action with real bat-miss traits, though shape can vary outing to outing. He’ll mix a curveball for a different breaking look and shows a changeup in the low-80s with sink. The overall mix and athleticism—he’s also played shortstop—point to starter traits, but refining direction and repeating the delivery will determine how consistently the stuff translates against better competition. | |||||||||||
