2026 MLB Draft: Tyler Putnam, RHP, Battle

Player: Tyler Putnam
School: Battle (MO) Position(s): RHP
Height: 6’5″Weight: 200 lbs.Bats: RightThrows: Right
Summary:
Putnam brings the kind of arm strength that immediately stands out in a showcase setting. The fastball has already lived in the mid-90s and will climb higher at times, showing heavy armside run and enough life to miss barrels even when located over the plate. He holds velocity deep into outings, and the combination of frame, looseness, and extension hints at more in the tank as he continues to add strength.

The operation works from a three-quarters slot with a long, projectable build that still has room to fill out. His breaking ball flashes depth but remains inconsistent in shape and finish, while the changeup shows fading life in the mid-80s and is ahead of the slider at present. Command can wander, particularly glove side, but there are stretches where he pounds the zone and lets the raw stuff play.

There’s clear starter upside if the secondaries tighten and the strike-throwing stabilizes. With premium velocity projection and stamina traits already in place, the ceiling is tied to polish rather than pure arm talent.
