| Summary: Easy tempo and effortless arm speed make Devaughan’s stuff play up even before accounting for the raw numbers. Working from a high three-quarter slot, the fastball sits 92-96, playing best when elevated with carry through the zone. A sinker variant gives him a second fastball look with different movement, and a curveball in the upper 70s to low 80s that spins well gives him a combination that is already difficult to navigate. A changeup is in development and has flashed enough promise to project as a viable third offering. The command has been inconsistent, though the easy mechanics and clean delivery give reason to believe the strike-throwing can develop alongside the stuff. For a high school arm with this kind of velocity and projection remaining in the frame, the upside is significant. Continued refinement of the changeup and command will determine how quickly the profile moves — the ingredients of a starter are already present. | |||||||||||
