2026 MLB Draft: Chris Hacopian, INF, Texas A&M

Player: Chris Hacopian
School: Texas A&MPosition(s): INF
Height: 6’1”Weight: 210Bats: RightThrows: Right
Summary:
After two monster years at Maryland, all eyes were on Chris Hacopian as he made his move to the SEC for his draft year to see if he could replicate the feat against college baseball’s best. So far, he has been more than up to the task, proving why his draft stock is as high as it is.

Offensively, Hacopian presents a smooth, polished profile burnished by one of the best pure hit tools in the draft. He has an uncanny ability to get the bat to the ball, and when he does, the contact is usually loud. Hacopian also has an advanced feel for the strike zone, posting more walks than strikeouts at every collegiate level. What makes his profile even more intriguing is that for all of the gaudy numbers (career collegiate OPS over 1.000), there is still more raw power to tap into, showcased by his exit velos (tracked at 103 with a wood bat this past summer). If he can continue making good contact and launching the ball with authority, look for his stock to continue to rise.

Defensively, Hacopian is a solid enough fielder, but his limited range means he is probably best suited for third or second base long-term. The arm is very strong, and he has experience at all 4 infield spots, but shortstop (where he played at Maryland) is probably not in his future. He has limited experience at first base, playing there last summer in preparation for a potential move to the position at A+M, but the Aggies opted to put Hacopian at second base and slide Gavin Grahovac over to first.
