Summary:
The raw arsenal makes the projection conversation genuinely interesting regardless of where the command lands. A fastball that gets up to 99 from a high three-quarter slot with good extension creates a difficult offering for hitters from either side, and the natural deception generated by the 6’6″ frame and arm speed compounds the problem. A low-80s slurve with vertical bite and horizontal movement is a massive swing-and-miss weapon against right-handed hitters, and a changeup with above-average potential and arm-side fade gives him a third option that has grown in usage and effectiveness. The ingredients of a mid-rotation arm are buried inside the profile.

Command has been the persistent barrier and the walk rate reflects it — misses on all offerings have kept the profile from fully unlocking despite the obvious talent. The late Double-A surge showed encouraging signs that the mechanical work is beginning to translate, and while the sample is small enough to temper the optimism, the arsenal quality gives the improvement real weight. Separating the two fastball variants and sharpening the breaking ball from its slurvier shape toward a more consistent plus offering are the developmental priorities that will determine whether the starter path remains viable.

The reliever profile is the more likely outcome at this point, and in shorter stints where the fastball can operate at full intensity the ceiling in that role is significant. The starter upside hasn’t fully closed — a large piece of clay still working through his development, the command gains will ultimately decide which path wins out.
