| Summary: Kuhns is a long, lean right hander who continues to turn heads after a strong freshmen campaign for the Vols. The 26′ eligible sophomore boasts an arsenal worthy of first round consideration and projection to match. Kuhns gives a “throwback” vibe working from the windup. Set up on the first base side of the rubber, he gathers with a higher leg kick while his hands elevate above his head. He has a longer arm stroke with considerable whip and extension. Despite the longer arm action, Kuhns commands the zone with all four pitches (12 BB over 65 IP in 2026). There is some effort late in the delivery, though as noted, the command doesn’t suffer. The fastball has topped 98 mph and comfortably sits in the 94-96 mph range. It comes with carry and late life. He mixes in a curveball and slider both spinning ~2,500 rpm’s. The slider is the out pitch (82-85 mph) with late bite working away from right handers. The changeup, working the opposite direction has bite of its own, running up to 15″ horizontally. As Kuhns continues to add polish to this pitch, expect it to be a difference maker at the next level. At 6’3″, 189 lbs. Kuhns still has plenty more physical projection. Should he remain a fluid mover with added strength, Kuhns has a chance to be a top of the rotation talent. He’s a bulldog that wants the ball in big situations. Trending up as we approach the 2026 draft. | |||||||||||
