| Summary: The velocity jump has been the headline for Garica, and the stuff backs it up. Working from a high three-quarter slot with considerable arm speed, the fastball now sits 92-95 and touches 96 with explosive carry and bat-missing traits — big spin rates and a power heater shape that plays well at the top of the zone. A high-spin curveball in the mid-70s with sharp 12-6 action and significant depth is the secondary that flashes the most upside, already generating swing-and-miss when it’s on and tunneling well off the fastball. A changeup in the mid-80s is the most developmental piece of the mix but has shown enough fade to project as a viable third option. The delivery repeats well despite some violence at release, and the command of both the fastball and curveball is already ahead of where you’d expect for a prep arm with this much stuff. The curveball can be difficult to land consistently and is most effective when buried below the zone, and the changeup location needs to tighten alongside the overall development. The profile warrants being given every chance to start — the fastball and curveball combination give it the ingredients of a rotation arm — though the relief ceiling is significant if the starter path doesn’t materialize. | |||||||||||
