| Summary: Oliver’s physical profile and skill set unlock a different echelon of potential. The Senior out of Agoura High School measures at 6’4” and 185 lbs. A large but lean frame with plus athleticism. He’s nimble and uber-mobile for a SS of his stature. From what he has shown, both defensively and offensively, he will be an exciting prospect to follow for years to come. Impressive speed and footwork, coupled with his length at the SS position make range a non-issue. Quick and quiet feet when fielding and really controls his pace to work through the baseball and make plays. Despite his frame, Oliver shows the ability to get low and contort to make difficult plays and throw on the run with ease. Glove work is very clean and consistent with soft hands that deaden hops. Smooth transfers with a quick and accurate release and has the arm strength to stay at SS in the future. The power and barrel tools for Oliver are arguably even more enticing than the defense. Good rhythm at the plate starting with an open stance. Loads his hands to a low slot on-plane with the baseball and works the barrel up through the zone looking to connect out front. Compact and repeatable swing that leverages his strong base and long limbs to generate power. | |||||||||||
