Height: 6’3″Weight: 205 lbs.Bats: LeftThrows: Left
Summary:
Burnes is a southpaw from Milton, MA that shows maturity and polish far beyond his years. Originally slated for 2028, Burnes reclassed to 2027 in September of last year while also committing to Auburn. There’s a lot to like from a prep star who will be a mere 17 years old next July.

He stands 6’3″, 205 lbs., an already sturdy frame for a 16 year old. Future projection remains high for the athletic left hander. In addition to the physical gifts, Burnes has already shown an aptitude for commanding them. He works with a smooth, repeatable operation deploying his four pitch mix from a higher three quarter slot. He stays linear to the plate throughout the delivery utilizing his lower half well. The fastball will not blow you away at this point. It’s topped a 91 mph while sitting 88-90 mph. The effectiveness comes from his command and ability spot up in all four quadrants. Its accompanied by a game changing breaking ball. A true 12-6 curveball spinning upwards of 3,000 rpm’s, it gives the fastball mid-90’s perception. The change up rests in the 79-82 mph range with arm side run playing extremely well off the fastball. A slider is also in the mix in the lower 80’s with tight, late bite.

Burnes has a starter profile with an elite arsenal for a prep player. The physical projection and advanced feel on the mound only add to the alure. The ceiling is high for the lefty just learning how to drive.
