| Summary: The athleticism is the thread that runs through everything Westphal does on a baseball field. An elite runner who maximizes every opportunity on the bases — an aggressive approach to the extra base that creates pressure on opponents in ways the box score doesn’t always capture, with the speed to make plays happen from anywhere on the diamond. The aggressiveness shows up as a personality trait as much as a physical one, and the instincts that accompany the athleticism give the overall profile a ceiling that goes beyond the individual tool grades. At the plate, a quick, controlled left-handed swing with genuine bat speed and barrel accuracy — making hard contact at a high rate with the ability to drive the ball in both directions and very little empty contact in the profile. The hit tool and athleticism carry equal weight in the evaluation and both give the profile a legitimate floor before the power fully arrives. The frame has been adding physical substance in a way that gives the raw power projection more credibility with each evaluation window, and meaningful over-the-fence production to the pull side is a realistic outcome as the development continues. Center field is the long-term defensive home where the speed and feel for the position give the profile a natural fit — the arm is below the ideal threshold for the position and will continue to be the variable that determines how long the center field home holds, but the athleticism and instincts make a strong case.
