| Summary: When talking about pure stuff, Bowie’s ranks up there with the top arms in the country. His arsenal consistently grades out toward the top of just about every Stuff+ model across the board. He comes at hitters from multiple slots, but hangs in the three-quarter to lower three-quarter range. It’s an uncomfortable at-bat for lefties, though righties tend not to enjoy the experience either. The fastball is elite, topping 100 mph while resting in the mid to upper 90’s. It’s accompanied by a cutter (91-93 mph) that is capable of inducing the same type of swing and miss the fastball does. The breaking ball, which most characterize as a slider, can be slurvey at times. There is true two plane action with significant horizontal and vertical break in the lower to mid-80’s. Standing at just 6’0″, 190 lbs. Bowie utilizes his frame efficiently to generate the output he does. He gets into a deep hinge on the backside engaging the lower half well. The arm speed is real, with a longer stroke on the backside. The delivery can be characterized as controlled violence, as Bowie certainly shows high effort but maintains body control. Command has been an issue at times, walking 32 in 39.2 innings in 26′ for the Deacons. The upside is hard to deny, with a 15.7 K’s per 9 rate over that same period. Should the southpaw harness his electric repertoire in 2027, a high Day 1 pick is not out of the question. | |||||||||||
Eric Dillinger is currently the Head Baseball Coach at Erie High School, entering his 4th season as the Head Coach and 9th season overall. Dillinger was the pitching coach at Erie prior to becoming head coach. At the club level, he has coached nationally for multiple organizations including the Colorado Yard Dawgs, the Colorado Rockies Scout program, and USA Prime. Dillinger is also currently the General Manager for D-BAT NW Denver. In addition to his duties as GM, he is also a senior pitching instructor. He is certified in Rapsodo Pitching and is also Driveline Certified (Pitch Design). Beyond coaching on the field, Dillinger enjoys helping athletes in the recruiting process. He has helped over 40 athletes find homes at the next level.
