Summary:
Luker makes pitching look easy, and that’s not something you take for granted in a 2027 arm. A clean, fluid operation from a lower arm slot that already repeats with the consistency of a pitcher who has been doing this for years — generating extension well beyond what the current frame would project and creating an approach angle to the plate that gives hitters an unusual visual plane to deal with. The fastball has reached the mid-90s with arm-side movement and carry that make it play harder than velocity alone would suggest, and the easy arm speed behind it gives every reason to believe the velocity continues to climb as the physical development arrives.

The changeup is the secondary with the most long-term upside and the primary developmental focus. A pitch that has shown genuine late fade and the ability to neutralize right-handed hitters when executed — the natural arm action and feel for changing speeds off the same delivery give it a deceptive quality that compounds the fastball’s effectiveness. The breaking ball is the other piece of the puzzle, a sweeping shape from the lower slot that currently projects toward a harder, tighter version as the velocity and feel develop together. Getting both secondaries to consistent execution is the main work ahead — and the pitchability already present gives the development process something real to build on.

The back-end starter ceiling is grounded in a delivery that already functions at a high level, a fastball with genuine projection and two secondaries with real upside. The two-way background adds athletic context — a good runner with bat speed and feel at the plate — but the mound is clearly where this profile is headed, and the operation gives it a legitimate path to get there.
