| Summary: A name that has been circulating in 2028 class discussions for some time, Garcia took a significant step into the conversation’s upper tier with a recent look that delivered one of the louder individual performances the class has produced. A wiry, electric athlete who glides across the shortstop dirt with a lightness and ease that makes difficult plays look routine — soft, sure hands, outstanding range in every direction and an arm that delivers accurate, powerful throws from multiple angles and body positions. The defensive profile at shortstop is already the kind that scouts build long-term evaluations around, giving the profile a floor before the offensive development has had time to fully announce itself. The athleticism and defense carry the evaluation equally at this early stage, with the hit tool development determining how far the ceiling ultimately climbs. The wiry frame carries surprising power potential for the size — hand quickness and bat speed that generated loud contact in both showcase and live game settings, with a physical projection that gives the power a credible trajectory as the strength builds. The at-bats have shown genuine adjustability and a competitive character that shows up most in high-profile moments, which is an encouraging early indicator for the offensive development ahead. Contact development is the variable that separates an everyday shortstop from a profile with genuine impact ceiling. The athleticism gives the floor real credibility regardless of where the offense ultimately lands — elite speed, outstanding defensive instincts and a legitimate arm at the premium position create a big league path on their own. The ceiling grows considerably if the bat-to-ball ability develops alongside the physical projection remaining in the frame, and the high school career ahead gives the evaluation real room to continue building toward that ceiling. | |||||||||||
