Summary:
Guzzie works from a compact, easy-repeating delivery that stays in line to the plate and hides the baseball well, an operation that’s held up whether he’s working a short relief stint or stretching into multiple innings. He’s a left-handed bat with legitimate gap power, and a handful of evaluators still see outfield value in the profile — but the delivery, strike-throwing, and developing arsenal all point toward pitching as where this ultimately settles.

The fastball currently sits 88-91 and has already touched 92, playing beyond that number thanks to angle and life through the zone that generate swings and misses up top; evaluators consistently expect more velocity as he adds strength to a frame with real room left. The breaking ball doesn’t fit neatly into one bucket — some looks show a tighter, shorter shape, others a deeper, slower curveball — but the throughline across evaluations is a pitch trending toward more depth and increasingly effective at jamming right-handed hitters down and in. The changeup is the piece still catching up, flashed in the low-to-mid 80s with fade but thrown infrequently enough that feel for it trails the rest of the mix.

What separates Guzzie from a pure projection arm is that the strike-throwing is already ahead of the stuff — he works ahead in counts, avoids free passes, and commands the breaking ball down in the zone without needing the physical maturation to catch up first. That combination points to a starter, full stop; the added strength still to come reads as upside layered on an already-workable foundation, not a condition for it.
