A big, durable frame that’s held up stuff deep into seasons gives him a chance to keep pushing that trajectory further. The fastball now sits comfortably in the mid-90s and has touched as high as 98, delivered with a delivery that gets to plus velocity without max-effort mechanics. The slider is the true present weapon, generating a heavy swing-and-miss rate in the mid-80s and getting a bit slurvy in shape depending on the look — sometimes tighter and more traditional, other times showing more depth and closer to curveball shape, but effective either way because of how well it’s hidden out of the arm action.
