| Summary: Boehm’s calling card is a fastball that stands above the rest of the profile, sitting comfortably in the low-90s and already touching 95, with enough carry and life up in the zone to make it nearly impossible to square up when it’s located at the top third of the zone. The pitch has drawn praise across every look this spring, and there’s still real reason to believe more velocity is coming as physical development continues. The curveball is the true out-pitch, a 12-6 breaker with exceptional depth that’s produced swing-and-miss at nearly every event he’s pitched at. The two pitches tunnel well together, giving hitters a genuinely difficult look when both are commanded — a fastball-curveball pairing that already plays like a weapon against advanced competition. The changeup remains a clear third pitch, still behind the other two in both feel and usage, and that gap is worth taking seriously — a physically mature frame and a loose, whippy arm action produce the stuff, delivered from a high release point, but there’s some visible effort in generating that fastball shape, and the current two-pitch reliance raises a real question about whether the third offering develops enough to support a true starter’s workload. The foundation here — a carrying fastball and a true hammer curveball that tunnel beautifully together — gives him a legitimate starter’s ceiling, but the relief risk tied to the delivery and the unfinished third pitch are real enough to flag rather than dismiss. | |||||||||||
