| Summary: Bruce has generated real buzz this spring off a monster junior season, and the tools back up the helium — a clean, well-proportioned athletic frame with a smooth left-handed stroke that generates real bat speed and power without needing to sell out for it. The swing has reportedly taken a real step forward after some mechanical tweaks, and the results have followed, with evaluators increasingly bullish on where the bat is headed. The offensive profile centers on a genuine combination of feel for the barrel and power that’s already showing up in games, not just in batting practice. He does real damage against velocity, though advanced spin has given him more trouble at times — a gap that’s reportedly closed some as he’s faced better competition. The power already projects as above-average, and the swing path and pull-side tendencies suggest more of it is still to come as physical strength develops further. Defensively, the outfield picture is genuinely unresolved. Speed and arm strength both grade as average tools, and there’s a real chance he sticks in center field as currently built — evaluators have liked what they’ve seen there recently — but a corner projection remains just as live an outcome if the frame continues to add size. Either way, the arm plays fine wherever he ends up, and the bat is going to be the carrying tool regardless of the final defensive home. The overall picture here is a well-rounded, left-handed power bat whose offensive tools alone make him one of the more interesting names in his class — the outfield fit will sort itself out over time, but the hit-power combination gives him a real foundation to build a first-round-caliber case around. | |||||||||||
