2027 MLB Draft: Graham Houston, SS, Venice (FL)

Player: Graham Houston
School: Venice (FL)Position(s): SS
Height: 6’1″Weight: 178 lbs. Bats: SwitchThrows: Right
Summary: Houston is the younger brother of 2025 first round pick Marek. All signs point toward Graham following in those footsteps as he is projected to be an early day 1 pick in July. There are plenty of similarities in their games, however, Graham brings an element that older brother Marek does not. His ability to switch hit, and do it well, adds an intriguing dynamic for the prep shortstop.

From the left side, Houston sets up with a wide base triggered by a shorter leg kick. His hands stay quiet with minimal movement all around. Its a very simple operation with an efficient bat path. He’s shown gap to gap power, though the overall hit tool stands out over potential power from the left. On the ride side, its a similar set-up, however his hands are slotted a bit lower. He shows a higher aptitude for loft on the right though again, the hit tool is the more projectable asset. His barrel control stands out with a mature approach from both sides.

In the field, Houston’s actions are clean, fundamental and reliable. He works well to both sides with an arm that plays. There is reason to believe Graham will continue to mature physically. Marek currently stands at 6’3″, 205 lbs., while Graham is 6’1, 178 lbs. With added size and strength the projection for additional slug should increase. A polished player on both sides of the ball with a discipled approach as a switch hitter puts Houston toward the top of many boards going into the 2027 draft.
