| Summary: Curley is a power bat and a power arm at the infield corners, with a strong right-handed swing built on fast hands and real hip rotation. He’s patient at the plate, recognizes pitches well, and has handled fastballs for a long stretch. The raw power is real and shows up most when he turns on the ball. He has a frame with the strength to keep adding. The hit tool and the defense are the limiters. The approach can run overly cautious, and he gets started late, which keeps him from getting to his power consistently and puts stress on how he’ll deal with premium velocity. Breaking balls and changeups will be the test in pro ball. Defensively he has spent time at several infield spots, and the errors, including bad throws and misplays on easy chances, have been a concern. The arm is the one clear plus tool, and it plays best at third base, which is the most likely home. There’s still a small chance he sticks at shortstop, but his footwork and lateral movement point to the corner. If he gets comfortable at third and the bat shows up, there’s a path to a regular job built on power. | |||||||||||
