Summary:
Dodd is a light-built outfielder with top-of-the-scale speed, double-plus or better, and he’s among the fastest players in this age group. He runs the bases well, and the legs stretch his hits, steal bags, and send him home from the gaps. He plays hard and competes constantly.

He switch-hits from a compact, straight-to-the-ball stroke and makes contact reliably. The path through the zone is level and favors line drives, and he often chops the ball into the ground and lets his legs create hits, so most of his contact stays on the ground. Fast hands help him keep the bat on pitches when he’s fooled, and he seldom misses. His power is minimal. An occasional ball caught out front can leave the park to the pull side, but he trades impact for putting the ball in play. At the top of a lineup, he’ll have to hit for a high average and reach base regularly.

Center field is his home. His speed makes it very likely that he’ll be a solid or better defender, his routes and reads keep improving, and he goes after balls without hesitation, which suits an up-the-middle position. His arm is fringy, which could shift him to left field.

His legs and his glove are his main strengths, and the bat has to hold up for them to matter. The frame is thin and has room for more strength, which could help the offense, but the profile today rests on speed and defense, with the hit tool deciding how far it goes.
