2023 MLB Draft: Aidan Miller, 3B, Mitchell HS (FL)

Player: Aidan Miller
School: Mitchell HS                                                 Position(s): 3B
Height: 6’2″                   Weight: 205 lbs.                    Bats: Right                       Throws: Right
Hit: Quick bat. Good approach. Big leg kick and a hitchy swing. Bat head ends up tilted towards pitcher leading to a longer bat path. Despite that he handles velo well and has put together really good ABs against elite arm. Average to better tool
Power: Natural loft in swing. Plenty of strength in body. Some shoulder load to help create bat speed generating power. Won HS Home Run Derby during 2022 All Star break. Plus power potential. https://platform.twitter.com/widgets.js
Run: Average now, likely to tick just below in time. Mature body already shouldn’t take too much speed away, but quickness could be impacted.
Arm: Plus arm strength. Goes low slot too often and ball can tail too much on him.
Glove: Started HS as shortstop, moved to third where he should stick. Some concern he will have to move to first as his body matures more but should be given every opportunity to stay at hot corner given arm strength.
Other: Arkansas commit. Broken hamate ended 2023 season early.
Summary: Despite missing most his senior year, Miller should hear his name called in the first round in July. The power is real and the bat speed makes up for the business in his swing, allowing him to make more contact than the swing and approach suggest. He has all the arm strength needed to stick at third, but foot speed and overall quickness could be in issue as he matures. Carrying tool will be the power but has enough bat-to-ball skill to get to that power in game making it true plus power not just raw power.
