| Summary: The draft world was thrown for a loop when Schmidt removed his name at the 11th hour before the draft despite seeming like a no-brainer first round pick. Instead he heads to LSU where his fastball that has been up to 99 and double plus hammer curveball could be featured in a weekend rotation at some point this year. The curve is nearing 3k spin rate and he has a quality change as well. He will miss high arm side a bit too much, but overall the command is solid and there isn’t much question his future is in the rotation. He isn’t afraid to pitch backwards and double or triple up his offspeed stuff, showing and advanced feel to pitch. There is legit 1-1 upside in this arm. | |||||||||||
