| Summary: There might not be a more uncomfortable arm to face as a left handed hitter than Abeldt. He creates a ton of cross body action from a very low slot and releases the ball behind the back of a batter in the first base batter’s box. The fastball can get into the low 90s and ends with some serious sink and tail. He pairs that with a slider sitting 78-81 that runs for days and can get serious swords from righties. He has shown some feel for a change, but it is a distant third offering currently. The fact he is really a two pitch guy, has a stiff front leg and funk in the delivery all points to a future in the bullpen. While there may be some teams who would be willing to roll him out as a starter, I see his best role as a high leverage reliever. Unfortunately we won’t see him this year though, as he recently had elbow surgery and will miss the 2025 season. | |||||||||||
