| Summary: Upchurch is a prep pitcher with a prototypical frame and a genuine four pitch mix of offerings that project to be average to better. The fastball regularly sits in the mid-90s and catches 6s and 7s at times. Thanks to the slightly lower 3/4 slot there is a good amount of arm side run to go with the velo. His best secondary offering is a sharp downer slider that does have some cutting action as well providing some nice depth for a pitch in the mid-80s. He also has a solid curveball and a change with some fade. He has really struggled with command in the past but has taken some steps forward on that front, although he probably never develops into more than below average command. It is a really good overall package with mid-rotation upside if everything comes together. | |||||||||||
