2027 MLB Draft: Harry Chubb Jones, RHP, McEachern

Player: Harry Chubb Jones
School: McEachern (GA)Position(s): RHP
Height: 6’3″Weight: 185 lbs.Bats: Right Throws: Right
Summary: One of the more exciting 2027s is Jones. He is a quality shortstop with a solid bat and solid wheels, but it is rather clear he has the most upside on the mound. He has real arm speed whipping through a lower arm slot and nothing he throws is straight. The big arm speed and whippiness does lead to some command issues at times though, as he can really lose feel for the zone. The fastball was up to 93 last summer, but has popped 97 this year and it would surprise nobody to see him hit triple digits before his high school career is done. He plays off his fastball well with a split finger changeup that has late tumble and a wicked slider that has real depth. He is long and lean with plenty of projection left. There is plenty of refinement still needed, but he has the upside of a starter profile with three plus pitches with some reliever risk where his intensity and willingness to attack opposing hitters would make him a fiery high leverage guy.
