| Summary: Switch-hitting catchers are always sought after, add to that the fact Gray won’t be 18 until after the draft and there will certainly be teams very high on him. At the plate, he has a ton of bat speed and genuine power from both sides with an accurate barrel that allows him to really tap into that power. He is not the most patient of hitters and will absolutely expand the zone too often, but he does not strike out a ton leading to a wide range of opinions on his profile. The frame is very strong overall and he has an above-average arm, but there is some question about his total defensive package as a catcher. He is a quality athlete so if the footwork and pop times don’t improve, he could be a solid defender in the outfield where his power bat will play just fine. | |||||||||||
