Summary: There always seems to be a Wisconsin prepster that pops late in the draft process and really climbs boards, and Kussow seems to be that guy this year. He is far from an unknown, but scouts didn’t get eyes on him until late in the season due to the northern weather. He has long levers with some real funk in the delivery that can get away from him at times, but the deception makes it really hard to pick up the ball. The ball jumps out of his hand at a slot just below 3/4 and sits in the low 90s most days, but has been up to 97. He can really spin the slider with plenty of two plane depth that sits in the low 80s, but again has been much higher, up to 88 and spin rates north of 2,800. The change sits in the mid 80s with solid fade, although he does not use it a ton currently. The inconsistencies in his delivery does lead to command issues that need to be cleaned up to stick in a pro rotation, but there is massive upside here.
